![]() Here’s a perfect example of a tech support complaint right from their BBB reviews. Speaking from our own personal experience no one likes to be handed off over and over and never receive a solution. It’s easy to get customers to buy products with flashy marketing and low prices, however it’s not so easy to support those customers when they have a problem. Based on some reviews the calls involve customers being transferred between multiple employees who are equally clueless about the security cameras and systems they sell. Why are customers complaining about Lorex?Įxamples from the BBB profile focus on frustrating back and forth exchanges with Lorex’s phone and email support. The reviews and complaints provide a great reference for anyone who is already fed up with Lorex and considering moving away from Lorex for their security camera needs. It is a shame their customers feel they must resort to a third party website like the BBB to get support from the company they purchased from. We are unsure if Lorex doesn't care about their reputation or they feel they are too big to fail. In total, they have had 415 complaints in the last 3 years the BBB does not display complaints older than three years. Lorex’s public BBB profile speaks for itself by displaying an average review rating of 1.08 out of 5 stars collected from 201 customer reviews at the time of writing of this post. Thinking about upgrading or replacing a Lorex system or security cameras?Īlthough Lorex offers low prices, the low prices are due to the level of support the company offers. Those unsatisfied customers are not afraid to voice their experiences about Lorex. When companies like Lorex put a focus on sales rather than providing great technical and customer service the results are predictable: unsatisfied customers. One of those businesses in the security camera industry is Lorex. Businesses that push their products through advertising and marketplaces like Amazon are only interested in selling as much as possible.

![]() This year, a number of films, such as The Woman King, Piggy, and the first two parts of Ti West and Mia Goth's X trilogy are presenting violent women in a different light. violent vengeance is deemed appropriate or acceptable because of the level of violence that precipitated their actions," she says. "This feminises the violence as it aligns with stereotyped notions of female purity, emotionalism and ties to child rearing. A dominant strain of female screen violence in the last 30 years has been "sexualised, hyper-personal revenge in response to rape or loss of a child," Dr Lisa Coulthard, professor in film studies at the University of British Columbia, tells BBC Culture she cites Kill Bill (2003), where "the Bride" (Uma Thurman) seeks payback against a band of assassins after she becomes their target, in the process apparently killing her unborn child, as an example. And when women are violent, it is usually only after they are mistreated by men. They, by contrast, have been variously stereotyped as virtuous, weak or passive, and sidelined in famous franchises such as James Bond and Indiana Jones. In fact, a 2014 study from The Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania found that 90% of the highest-grossing movies across a 25-year period had a segment of violence – and relatively little of that is enacted by women. Though there have been many filmic portrayals of toxic masculinity and its associated violence – American Psycho (2000) or A Clockwork Orange (1971), for example – male screen brutality, especially in thrillers or action films, has been widely accepted and fostered the idea that aggression is a male trait. This legacy remains, and numerous studies have found that men prefer violent films. Colonial westerns and Hollywood war films promoted violence as heroism and a rite of passage into manhood, as argued by writers such as Ralph Donald. Since the birth of cinema, male violence has provoked less gendered controversy. Basic Instinct (1992), meanwhile, sparked protests from the LGBTQ+ community for stereotyping lesbians as vicious, though Sharon Stone's was lauded as "one of the great performances by a woman in screen history" in an essay by Camille Paglia. Thelma and Louise (1991), which starred Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon as women on the run whose destructive spree is triggered by an attempted rape, was, while praised by feminist critics at the time, variously branded "toxic feminism" by John Leo in Time magazine and unfeminist by Sheila Benson in the LA Times. Glenn Close's Alex in Fatal Attraction (1987) was alleged by Susan Faludi in her 1991 book Backlash to have been made the scapegoat for a man's actions – while also inspiring the misogynistic term "bunny boiler". A Question of Silence (1982), about three women's unexplained murder of a shopkeeper, was controversial upon its release, but later deemed a feminist classic. On screen, violent women have prompted fierce debate. One sneered, "What are they going to do? Collaborate to death?"Īnd yet, there is a long legacy of violent women in culture, from Euripides' play Medea, the ancient Greek myth where a wife seeks bloody revenge on her unfaithful husband, to Mary Elizabeth Braddon's 1862 novel Lady Audley's Secret, where a woman's murderousness is explained as insanity, to film femmes fatales such as Kathie Moffat in Out of the Past (1947). Critics of McGehee and Siegel's project argued that girls would never exhibit the same savagery in such a situation. William Golding's 1954 novel famously features a group of boys who descend into barbarism after being stranded on an island. When, in 2017, the directorial duo Scott McGehee and David Siegel announced their plans to create a female version of Lord of the Flies, they were roundly mocked on social media. ![]() I really adore Spain because it WAS a prove of the glory of Islam. Most importers set a lower limit for major defects than minor defects in their inspected sample size. And these defects would likely cause a customer to return the product, lodge a complaint or request a refund in response. These defects are readily noticeable by the customer. Major defects are those which could adversely affect the function, performance or appearance of a product. A product with a major defect departs significantly from the buyer’s product specifications. Major defects are more serious than minor defects. But an item can still fail inspection if the number of minor defects found exceeds the limit set by their tolerance ( related: How AQL Sampling Affects Your Inspection Results). Importers often set the highest tolerance-or AQL, if applying that standard-for minor defects in their inspected sample size. And the customer wouldn’t likely return an item due to a minor defect alone. In most cases, the customer wouldn’t even notice a minor defect on a product. Minor defects are usually small, insignificant issues that don’t affect the function or form of the item. Let’s look at each of these defect types in detail. Importers commonly set these quality tolerances using a statistically valid acceptance sampling method known as acceptable quality limits, or acceptable quality levels (AQL) ( related: 10 AQL Terms Importers Should Know to Succeed with AQL for Inspection).Īn importer’s tolerance for minor defects tends to be greater than that for major or critical defects, given their relative severity. This tolerance, in turn, impacts how many units per SKU an inspector would check during inspection-the sample size. Importers have the power to specify how many of each type of defect they’re willing to accept in their finished goods. The nature and severity of a defect determines in which of the three categories it belongs. Quality control professionals typically classify quality defects into three main categories: minor, major and critical. 3 Types of defects every importer needs to know Here we’ll help you get started by explaining the most common ways to classify defects in different products. But it’s ultimately your responsibility as the buyer to decide your tolerance for different defects, often using a system like AQL ( related : The Importer's Guide to Managing Product Quality with AQL ). And considering the quantity and severity of different types of defects found helps you make an informed shipping decision.Ī professional inspection company often has established standards for classifying various types of defects for a particular product type. Or you might consider them a “major” defect if you distribute your product to a high-end retailer with a lower tolerance for quality issues.ĭefect classification is a vital step for determining if goods should pass or fail inspection. Would you classify this quality defect as “minor” or “major”? You might say untrimmed threads are a “minor” defect that don’t affect the salability of the product.
